designing layouts

When tasked to create a layout design for an issue of Volume Magazine, I decided to design a spreads for an article on the story behind Submarine by the Marías. With an underwater theme for the album, I was heavily inspired by the organic and fluid nature of water. My design relates to that concept through and through.

Using custom bubble effects and a selection of underwater photos, I created a surreal design that makes the reader feel like they are right there under the water with the band.

Typography was a large part of this project, as the whole assignment was for a Typography class. I chose to use bold condensed type to counteract the fluidity of the other elements in the design.
